After I spent some time yesterday to explain you some benefits of a contrast shower I heard the question of how to contrast shower in the first place - as strange as the question may seem.
There is obviously not much to changing the temperature of your shower, but of course there are some technical specifics with contrast showers as with everything else. So let’s go over it quickly.
- Start of having a normal hot shower and get all of the soap cleaning business done.
- Slowly turn down the temperature of the shower until it feels pleasantly cool and stay under it like this for about a minute. Meanwhile make sure the cool water rinses around every part of your body for maximum benefits.
- Quickly turn the temperature up again and rewarm your body for about five minutes.
- Repeat the above up to five times
- After the last cool shower don’t turn the water hot again but instead go out of the shower and warm up your skin by rubbing yourself all over with a towel. Ideally the towel should be cold too.
That’s the basic process for a contrast shower.
It might take a little longer than your normal shower but mind the benefits for your health!
Have fun,

I’ll have to try this out, seems pretty interesting. No saunas where I live, which is a shame, I love saunas.
Though, my mum would probably get miffed at me being in the shower for 30 minutes and messing with the hot and cold. Like she has the right to talk, I’ve been bursting for the toilet for the past 45 minutes while she sits in the bathtub. (Yes she’s alright, checked a minute ago)
I could do with blood vessels being trained up a bit, it might help my low energy levels.

Having done something like this in the past, I have to say that the method is nothing unusual. I could not imagine being in a shower for 30 minutes though. No matter how relaxing it ends up being in the long run. Although the benefits are good. I would have to have some sort of seat in my shower in order for me to want to be in there that long.

Tried it just there, feels pretty good, but I forgot about the “slowly” part and found myself gasping from the thermal shock. XD
I’ll have to keep this up, feels pretty good so far, a cold shower really helps in these summer days, you know?

Right, speaking of summer days:
This really saved my life last summer when I was in Greece for several months. You know, more than 40°C, wild fires on many of the islands and I was the only one who could sleep well at night.
Talk about conditioning the body
And I didn’t do the full 30 minutes either.
